Julie Erin Designs in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!

Hey guys!

This past month I had the opportunity to travel to Puerto Vallarta, on the Pacific side of Mexico.

While I was there I had some fun taking photos with my new Canon EOS Rebel SL2 DSLR camera I got for Christmas this year.

My boyfriend helped take some photos of me wearing my A-Line dress from Redbubble.

See a more detailed review of my A-Line dress from Redbubble in this post.

I also photographed my Beach Mandala beach tote bag from Society6.

Both of these products were perfect to take on beach holiday.

These pictures were taken on the resort we stayed at, Club Regina Puerto Vallarta near the marina.

On one of the days while I was lounging on the beautiful beach near the resort, I drew this mandala in the sand.

Another day while we were out exploring the city, I found some beautiful street art which included mandalas, so I had to stop and strike a pose!

Also take a look at my Society6 store for some more beach holiday essentials such as:

Travel Pics – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo San Lucas, MEXICO

While this is generally an art blog, those of you who have followed me for a while know that I also occasionally like to share my travel photos with you guys!

Travel and photography are actually related to my art practice because I often use the photos to create new designs either directly or indirectly, and travel in general tends to inspire me creatively.

Below is an example of a product I created using a photo from this latest trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

And yes, I did go to Cabo last year as well but we stayed in San Jose del Cabo, and this time we stayed much closer to actual Cabo San Lucas at the Hotel Riu Palace. (Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I both suffered from food poisoning on this trip, from the hotel buffet, so while the hotel itself is beautiful I can’t recommend it based on that experience.)

Cabo is a fairly short and direct flight from Vancouver, and generally cheaper for me compared to other beach locations, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.  I will definitely be back to Cabo but will find somewhere else to stay next time.

Anyways, here are a few highlights from the trip:

View from our “Ocean View Double Room” suite
The beach in front of the hotel at sunset, with a view of Land’s End, and a cruise ship in the bay (please be aware the rip tide here is strong, so swimming in the ocean can be dangerous)
Sunset over the Riu Santa Fe (the sister hotel, behind the Riu Palace)
Riding horses on the beach
Cabo Wabo cantina

We went out bar hopping one night and hit up Cabo Wabo, El Squid Roe, another random bar and La Vaquita (a cow themed night club!).  It was super fun, I definitely recommend it if you’re there.  It is very easy to just walk between the different bars/clubs and quite an experience.

Towel animals made by the hotel staff, they left us a new one almost every day!
Lands end at dusk with horses on the beach, and the lights of Cabo San Lucas on the right

So, I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing these photos from my latest adventure, please let me know what you think about them and the products I made by leaving a comment below!

Also, if you would like to know anything about Cabo San Lucas, or the hotel I stayed at or whatever, feel free to ask me and I’ll do my best to help!

Sunset Ying Yang Mandala

Hey guys!

I have been super busy this week as I just started a new job, but I managed to complete a new design this weekend, called Sunset Yin Yang Mandala!

I am really enjoying creating these digital collage mandala pieces, as I get to use both digital and traditional techniques by combining my hand drawn mandalas with my digital photographs!

Plus — I’ve finally found an artistic use for some of my photographs, which is great!

This design looks nice on the products in my Society6 and RedBubble stores.

Below is a sample, but check out those websites to see the full product lines!

Hello friends!

I have a new design to share with you all this week.

I call it Tangled World Map, and it’s a hand drawn outline of a world map filled in with Zentangle inspired patterns and a bright colour palette.

This design looks pretty cool on some of the products in my Society6 and Redbubble stores!  I especially like how it turned out on this wall tapestry:

It reminds me of a beautiful tropical beach sunset and takes me back to my happy place 🙂  Does it do the same for you? Let me know in the comments section!

In other news, I am currently working on some new kinds of posts for you all.
