Cute and Funny Gift Ideas

Hi everyone!

I just got back from a long weekend road trip so I don’t have any new designs to share this week, but I thought I would show you guys some funny/trendy designs from my “experimental” Zazzle store.

This is the first time I’ve shared any of the creations from this store.

Some of them could make really cute and unique gifts!

Most of these products I created just for fun and are inspired by other funny or trendy designs I have seen around the web.

I feel like these “experimental” designs don’t really go with the theme of my Julie Erin Designs store, which is why I created a separate Zazzle store for them.

This is one of the things I like about using Zazzle to sell my artwork, the fact that you can have multiple different stores under the same account.

Honestly, I created this magnet for myself – to use on my own dishwasher at home!

This t-shirt design was inspired by something I saw on E-bay.

I created this design after my trip to Paris in 2015.

This one I made in order to show some Canadian pride “down there”!

Here you can create your own custom mix-tape throw pillow!

And another pillow I made covered in funky “Text Speak”.

You guys can check out more of these funny and trendy products in my “Trendy Stuff” store on Zazzle.

Feel free to let me know what you think of these designs by leaving a comment below!  I know they are different from my usual style so I am interested to know your reaction!

Cheers,

Julie

Travel Pics – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo San Lucas, MEXICO

Hola!

While this is generally an art blog, those of you who have followed me for a while know that I also occasionally like to share my travel photos with you guys!

Travel and photography are actually related to my art practice because I often use the photos to create new designs either directly or indirectly, and travel in general tends to inspire me creatively.

Below is an example of a product I created using a photo from this latest trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico!

And yes, I did go to Cabo last year as well but we stayed in San Jose del Cabo, and this time we stayed much closer to actual Cabo San Lucas at the Hotel Riu Palace. (Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I both suffered from food poisoning on this trip, from the hotel buffet, so while the hotel itself is beautiful I can’t recommend it based on that experience.)

Cabo is a fairly short and direct flight from Vancouver, and generally cheaper for me compared to other beach locations, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.  I will definitely be back to Cabo but will find somewhere else to stay next time.

Anyways, here are a few highlights from the trip:

The beach in front of the hotel at sunset, with a view of Land’s End, and a cruise ship in the bay (please be aware the rip tide here is strong, so swimming in the ocean can be dangerous)

We went out bar hopping one night and hit up Cabo Wabo, El Squid Roe, another random bar and La Vaquita (a cow themed night club!).  It was super fun, I definitely recommend it if you’re there.  It is very easy to just walk between the different bars/clubs and quite an experience.

So, I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing these photos from my latest adventure, please let me know what you think about them and the products I made by leaving a comment below!

Also, if you would like to know anything about Cabo San Lucas, or the hotel I stayed at or whatever, feel free to ask me and I’ll do my best to help!

Cheers,

Mermaid (Scallop) Pattern

Mermaid Pattern tapestry home decor

Hey guys!  I have a new design to share with you all today ~ Mermaid Galaxy Pattern!

It is basically a white scallop pattern (created in Illustrator) layered over top of a turquoise blue and and green galaxy / nebula style background!  I thought the colours of the background fit perfectly with the “scales” to create a mermaid like texture.

Watercolour Diamond Pattern

watercolour-diamond-pattern-canvas

My first new design of 2017!  A Watercolour Diamond Pattern.

I got a watercolour set for Christmas so I have been having a lot of fun painting and creating some fun new designs like this one!

I made a repeating pattern from a diamond I painted, which I think  turned out really nice as it looks good on a lot of the products in my stores.  I’ve even uploaded it to all 3 of my stores on Society6, Redbubble and Zazzle!

Check out a sample of some of the products I created below:

In other news, I’m turning 30 this Friday D:  I am a little bit freaked out about this, but to celebrate surviving 30 years I am going zip-lining for the first time at Grouse mountain!! Eeek! Wish me luck!

Cheers everyone,

Julie
