Gallery shows last month!

I have been getting settled into my new apartment so I haven’t been able to share these photos until now!   They are from the two art exhibitions I was involved with last month (April), the ACEO Art Card exhibit and the exhibition for my graduating class at UBC.

This first photo is me posing in front of my “Fashion Tangle” ACEO art card at the Hot Art Wet City gallery in Vancouver for their exhibition CARDED!  It was a fun event where people could purchase $5 mixed packs of cards and were encouraged to trade with one another to get different ones.  People seemed to be really into it!  There were 50 artists featured all together.

I also received 20 free copies of my own card and bought a mixed pack for myself.  I am probably going to give some of these away soon on my Facebook page.

Here is a close up of the piece hanging on the wall.  I know the title says “Fashion Zentangle” but at the time I submitted this piece (back before Christmas), I didn’t realize I shouldn’t use that word so I have since changed the title to “Fashion Tangle”.  Oh well :/

The second art show I was part of last month was our Graduating Art Exhibition titled “Double Space” hosted by and featuring the Visual Arts graduating class at UBC.

I entered the 3 large giclee prints I made last term in my 4th year studio course.  Here they are on the giant wall they gave me to work with:

And finally, this is my page in the Double Space Exhibition catalog, which features my artist’s statement and my ink and collage piece, Black Lips.

I am getting excited to finally graduate and get my degree next week, on May 20th!  Woo hoo!

In other news, I am working on re-building my website and plan to do a re-launch some time in the near future.  I have also been continually making new art (which I have yet to share…) and adding stuff to my Zazzle and Society6 stores. I have yet to see a huge return from them so far but I just keep working away at it nearly every day.

Anyways I hope you all have had a nice weekend.  It was beautiful here in Vancouver and so we had a barbecue at the beach all day yesterday :).

Cheers,

Julie
